25 Things {Fall 2012}

It’s been a while since we’ve done our 25 personal items of randomness. Today I’m doing it Twitter style because…

  1. …I wish I could use twitter hash-tags (#) in daily conversations: “Hey, look at HER! #ohhoneykittysweatersareneveragoodidea.” I just haven’t figured out how yet.
  2. I’ve been cleaning the house for the first time since April. Yes, you read that right. Like a true cleaning, under the couch, vacuuming baseboards etc. As each room gets finished I can feel a little bit of stress melt away.
  3. While vacuuming under the couches I found 17 balls. Golf balls, ping pong balls, bouncy balls, eraser balls, marbles, stress balls, foam basketballs, etc. Obviously the kids have a problem. #whycouldntithavebeenmoney
  4. Once the house is clean I’m going to try to start decorating for Fall. It is not impossible that I’ll be stringing Christmas lights instead. #gonnatakeawhile
  5. I need a new vacuum. I will never buy another Dyson.
  6. I’m loving the Presidential election. I adore politics. What I don’t adore are politically charged Facebook posts from friends and family. No matter which side you are on, insulting someone’s intelligence is never a good idea. #justbesureyouareonmyside
  7. Homeland on Showtime has captured my attention. (Thanks to the Emmy’s.) And yes, it really is that good.
  8. Are you watching 666 Park Avenue? CREEPY! I’m also loving Last Resort. #butidontunderstandeitherofthem
  9. I’m on the verge of painting my cabinets. SOON. #lotsofswearingtocome
  10. I spent two hours restoring some issues on our website this week. PSA: For anyone who is considering running a blog–make sure you have a strong computer person to assist you. It is not fun to spend all day on something only to find out it screwed everything else up.
  11. I’m reading Hemingway’s Girl by Erika Robuck right now. I wish it had a little more substance to it. I had much higher expectations. That being said, it’s still a good and easy read.
  12. Next up–J.K Rowling. I can’t wait.
  13. My children are driving me crazy. #nothingnew
  14. Video games are the work of the devil. Every argument I get into with my boys has its roots in a video game. “Why can’t I play?” “THIRTY minutes? Joey gets to play for TWO HOURS?” “Why can’t I download a new game?” “You said twenty minutes on the computer–now I’m on my ipod, and that’s totally different, Mom.” Ugh. #momsagainstminecraft
  15. Middle school homework is MUCH different than in the lower grades. It’s been an adjustment. #icantspellhisspellingwords
  16. FALL. I’m excited for fires in the fireplace. And red wine. And apple pie. All of which I’ve already enjoyed the moment the temps dipped below 65 degrees.  (I may be rushing it a bit.)
  17. I’m so over cutting the grass. I usually love mowing the lawn but this time of the year it gets pretty tedious. #wanted:hotlawnboy
  18. Carin and I are going to be spending a lot of time exploring our area over the next couple of weeks. We’re going on some wine tours, driving around the lakes, and shopping in the local stores. Getting a strong overall Finger Lakes vibe to incorporate into our new direction. I can’t imagine a better job. #didsomeonesaywine?
  19. I’m very glad the Red Sox season is almost over. #buh-byebobbyvalentine
  20. My favorite app on the iPad currently is Flipboard. I have all my favorites loaded and it’s like reading everything magazine style. Love it.
  21. I’m on the hunt for some cute earrings. Retail therapy is on the docket for a day very soon. I want some cute Fall stuff ASAP. Just don’t feel like spending much money. #dilemma
  22. My family and I are trying to eat more natural and fresh–less frozen junk, no “light” foods, checking labels for all those preservatives. It makes such a difference in flavor. I think I’m becoming a food snob.
  23. I want to plan a trip overseas NOW. With or without my family. The Travel Channel is causing me a lot of problems lately. #iloveAnthonyBourdain
  24. I spend every Sunday watching my son play football for two hours. The equipment is all over the house and it SMELLS. #makesmemissbaseball
  25. Finn, our cat, is still the coolest personality in our house.

Have a great day!

25 Things for Tuesday

1. May FLEW by and suddenly it’s June? How did that happen?

2. Baseball pants are the work of the devil. My boys are playing on three (soon to be four) teams at the moment. That means a lot of laundry involving those freaking WHITE pants. I’m so tired of scrubbing, scrubbing, scrubbing.

3. I need to go bathing suit shopping. Is there anything worse? No. No there isn’t.

4. The lawn needs to be mowed. At this point I’m waiting for goats and cows to wander in because it looks like a hayfield.

5. I can’t comment on a single TV show right now because I have NO TIME to watch television. When we do get home early, I just stumble to my bed.

6. Filling some of my planters before it’s August would be a good thing.

7. I’m dying to go watch our local Minor League baseball team and eat some ice cream while sitting in the sun and relaxing–but, you guessed it, there isn’t time. Is it bad that I’m considering taking the kids out of school for an afternoon game?

8. I can’t believe I actually thought that my days were busy when the kids were 1 and 4. Or 4 and 7. I had no idea what was ahead of me.

9. I’ve discovered a new love of country music. Especially Luke Bryan’s Drunk on You, Eric Church’s Springsteen, and Jake Owen’s Alone with You.

10. The guys at Sherwin Williams are getting tired of seeing Carin and I right now. Apparently bringing in a board with random colors and hand written comments all over it is “confusing” to the color-matching machine.

11. Since when is grocery shopping such a chore? I used to make my way through Wegman’s in a leisurely manner–these days I sprint up and down the aisles just grabbing stuff. Whether we eat it or not. Probably not the best idea.

12. If our rototiller ever starts working, I’ll get in a garden. Until then, I’m sneaking stuff out of Carin’s.

13. Mulch. HAH! Not happenin’.

14. I’d give anything for one day, on a beach, alone. Anything.

15. I just finished The Song Remains the Same by Allison Winn Scotch. Good read.

16. I need more good reading suggestions–leave ‘em in the comments section.

17. Carin and I are working hard (when we have time) on some exceptional (we think) new ideas. Which is why the blog has been a little bit lighter in content lately. You’ll see sneak peeks soon!

18. I’m totally out of things to discuss. Good thing it’s MY post and I can do this…

25. I’m hoping to get something accomplished today with all the time I just saved!

Have a great Tuesday!

25 Random Thoughts

Mine:

2. I have really missed Survivor (and @JeffProbst on Twitter) this past month. However The Bachelor (hides head in shame) and @JenniferWeiner are filling in.

3. I’m thinking of emptying every single room of my house (except for my son’s) and redecorating each one from scratch.
