Essential Oil Party

March is one big blur of birthdays around here. It seems as though we’re eating our way through the month with cake, ice-cream and more cake. Massive food control is in order!

Over the weekend, we celebrated my youngest daughter’s 8th birthday with a few of her friends…this is on top of her “official” birthday, as well as a class party!

I’m going to admit it–I feel like “Winner of the Bad Mom Award” because I don’t like hosting birthday parties. Please tell me I’m not the only one who feels like this? It’s the planning of what to do–go out to a venue or host at home, there are the crafts, goodie bags, lunch, snacks? And you know what? Every year I tell my girls this is the last party. Isn’t that horrible! I’m kind of cringing even thinking that I said that to them. See? Doesn’t that explain the Bad Mom Award?

Given how I feel about the party process (and feeling guilty), this year I finally came to my senses and brought in a friend, Organica Jane, who runs her own business as a Licensed Massage Therapist and National Certified Holistic Aromatherapist. She offers Birthday Aroma Bars for all ages.

She started out with giving the girls an introduction into essential oils, and it was totally geared towards eight year-old’s. There was a lot of hands-on and sniffing of the oils…the girls faces were priceless. They picked up the concept quickly–smell an oil, pass it on, then cleanse the nose by sniffing coffee beans. It was amazing to watch how excited they all got.

Check out Organica Jane’s set up–the sweet little lotion bottles, fresh lavender, oils, and ribbons. Beautiful!

Every girl had her own sheet to tell her what each oil was for and to then circle what oils she liked…so personalized!

After choosing their oils, they each mixed ever-so-carefully with a glass stir stick…talk about feeling like grown-ups!

Finally, they had to label their bottles. They were so creative in coming up with names…Peppermint Truffles, Sleep Well.

Smart ladies!

After a little running around, the girls were then geared up to make their own roll-on perfume. They were “Experts” at this point and were sharing oil combination ideas. So cute!

It was such a fantastic day making unique lotions and perfumes. Amy (a.k.a. Organica Jane) made learning about being a happy and  healthy person fun and interesting. The girls soaked it all up.

The other best thing about the day–was that I didn’t have to do anything other than watch and smell all of their yummy concoctions.  My house has never smelled so good!

If  you live in the Finger Lakes region and are looking for a fun, interactive and highly educational party then check out Organica Jane’s web site here. You’ll love all of her services.

And I think it may be time to book a massage for myself now that The Party Month is finally coming to a close!

We want to hear your unique party ideas…I’ll need some for next year :)

What a great idea for a little girls’ party! I would have loved it when I was small, and so would my stepdaughter. In fact, it would be fun for a big girls’ party. Of course some beverages would need to be involved…….hmmmm………………..

    • It was so much fun…I agree a girls night ou tshould have some big girl drinks-all the more fun :)

  2. Great, Great idea!!!! However, don’t think my going to be 13 year old son would go for it-darn…..

    • Hmmm…I think she would have to offer manly scents…that doesn’t sound too good. Yup, I think it’s a girls party….
