Could It Be Any Easier?

What can you do in 10 minutes or less?

You can make this….

I know it’s nothing earth shattering or something that hasn’t already been done, but simply a reminder that you don’t have to spend big $$ to have something pretty and uniquely yours.

Recently, I re-painted the cabinet in our bathroom and thought it was worthy of some art-work to showcase the space. Knowing that art-work does NOT need to be expensive to be cool I headed to Jo-Ann’s for some fabric. I found this fun floral fabric that I immediately fell in love with. To my sure happiness it was already marked down plus I had a coupon for 25% off. I bought 1/2 yard for three dollars. C’mon does it get any cheaper!

How convenient that Target is so close to Jo-Ann’s–is that on purpose? I easily get consumed in both stores and generally walk out with more than planned. Can you relate? For once, I felt focused and grabbed only what I needed…frames. How happy was I when I saw the deal– buy one get the other frame 50% off. Seriously? When did they start that?? But I’m all for it!

I’m only showing you what three things it took to pull this ever-so creative project off….I will NOT show a picture of me cutting the fabric, nor spraying the adhesive. You’re all too smart for that!

Pretty cute huh! I love it!

Such an easy project and easy on my wallet–makes it that much sweeter.

What budget friendly project have you done lately?

Plain Jane

Don’t you love when you have a productive day and you can cross a few things from your To Do list? I had that day yesterday and it felt great. I painted a simple piece and made some easy art work for our bathroom. Spring is finally here and I have a flurry of energy.

Here’s the basic pine cabinet that we’ve had for years…almost 20 to be exact. It’s floated around to our different homes/rooms until a few years ago when it landed in our remodeled bathroom for extra storage.

At the time I painted it with an acrylic white to keep the space bright…that was well before the introduction of Annie Sloan!

Do you like the Plain Jane white against the beadboard walls?

And why no knobs you ask??

A few weeks ago Nicole and I went to our favorite ASCP stockist The Purple Painted Lady to check out some new paint colors. We walked away with Coco and Versailles.

Cuckoo for Coco–yep, actually said that :)

I’m in awe eveytime I use this paint–it’s so easy to use and I especially love the drying time. Remember I’m all about the ease and quickness of a project!

In an effort to keep the piece light, I decided to cover the Coco with a coat of watered down ASCP in Pure White.

It did take a lot of elbow grease to remove just the right amount of white to show the Coco underneath. Thank goodness Nicole shared her tip for sanding–baby wipes. Yep, you read that right–good ole’ wipes will take off the paint without the mess. Did you know that?

The result:

Turned out a bit different than what I planned and at first I wasn’t so sure how I felt–it’s growing on me. My husband though isn’t so sure…some you love and some you don’t. :)

It about time knobs we’re put on this piece–what a novel idea! The glass knobs were purchased from Target while the glass pulls were from Lowe’s. So afforadable.

So for now the Coco stays…it is just paint after-all. Maybe Versailles will make a mark someday.

And for the simple art project…you’ll have to stop back :)
