Versatility in Decorating – One Simple Wreath

The one thing I can’t seem resist in a store is any item that can be used over and over again in different ways.

Changing items around seasonally (at the very least) is an important part of decorating. It keeps things feeling fresh and alive. Both Carin and I like to move items from one room to another, using the items in a new and fun way. It keeps our creativity flowing, and it helps to keep our houses interesting.

Last week, I stumbled on this great wreath in a small shop.  The shop owner had done a wonderful thing for her customers–she’d shown the many different uses for this simple green wreath all throughout the store. I’m sure a lot of people would come home, put it in one spot, and forget about it.

I’ve only had it a week, but you can bet you will see it in a lot of places around my house. I kinda wish I had bought two of them. For $12 it wasn’t exactly a steal, but it’s not bad considering all the ways I plan to use it.

Around some candles as a centerpiece.

Dress up silverware holder for a party.

As a decoration. I love the green against a gray wall.

Currently it is hanging in between two windows. A touch of green in a very BROWN landscape right now.

And, when he can get his paws on it, Finnegan turns it into a cat toy.

I’m going to go looking for some other items to go with this as well. I can just see using it for Easter–a birds nest inside and some beautifully colored eggs. So simple and beautiful.

  1. Love the name Finnegan. My little Milo almost got that name. I also love gray walls. Thanks for stopping by my old blog. I am now following!
