I love this child’s desk I bought years ago at a neighborhood yard sale for ten dollars. Neighborhood yard sales are the best…seeing lawn after lawn full of treasures is a thrifts delight! I’m thrilled that yard sale season is at our door step here in Upstate NY.
Our adorable desk needed a little TLC…a fresh coat of white latex paint (I will remind you this was waaaay prior to ASCP) before it could make its way into my daughters room to be filled with important papers, silly putty, handful of markers and miscellaneous craft projects. She used this desk until last year when we upgraded her to a more “mature” desk to fit her ever growing paper collection. Our cute little desk was relegated to the basement…the catch all for unwanted furniture. Can you relate? You can read about my previous piece relegated to the basement here.
Over the weekend we made changes to my youngest daughters’ room…removing and moving furniture. Sure enough she spotted the little ole’ desk in the basement and asked to have it in her room. We decided to give it a fresh update with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White. After a quick coat of paint, sanding, and clear wax once again this little beauty will be filled to the brim with more “important” papers, markers, crafts and whatever else can be squirreled away. I did manage to get a few pictures before she added her own charm to it:)
A few before pictures from its former home in the basement.
After using ASCP in Old White and clear wax and a little sanding. It’s a subtle change, but I much prefer the softness of the Old White.
I’m glad it’s out of the basement, but you know what they means…something else took its place…{sigh}
