Brimfield: Ten Favorites I DIDN’T Buy

OK. I promised to share what caught my eye in Brimfield today.

(Brimfield is so immensely huge and so chucked full with STUFF that when something catches your eye, it’s usually significant, at least it is for me. Because after a while, believe it or not, your eyes start to gloss-over as you move through tent after tent.)

Here are a few things that made me sit up and pay attention:

As Carin mentioned, vintage signs, and a TON of reproductions were everywhere. You couldn’t help but to pay attention to them. I liked the wonky fonts on this market one.

I thought if I bought this one an actual pool might appear in my yard. Hey, it’s Brimfield, you NEVER know.

This sign is a reproduction, but boy oh boy, did I ever put the pressure on Carin to buy it. I don’t have a house full of girls but if I did, this baby would hang right out front! (Needless to say, she did not purchase it. And I still think she was crazy not to!)

I was really diggin’ this red bathtub but had absolutely NO use for it. Although once I saw the items in the next photo I thought that bathtub would make a great outdoor seat…

Yup, those are galvanized feed troughs with a tufted top. Can’t even imagine what my relatives from home (former farmers) would say if they saw me decorating with feed troughs. But I loved them.  (Can’t you see that red bathtub with one of these tops? Just awesome.)

Those were all the things I LIKED, now I’ll show you the items that I ALMOST purchased. (I even bargained with a few of the places for a lower price, but in the end, for whatever reason, I walked away.)

These large (3′ at least) signs were just plain cool. And considering our school colors are black and gold, I had a tough time not getting one for each of my boys. But at $45 a piece, I just couldn’t do it.

I LOVED these giant balls of yarn. I loved the color and the texture. BUT, I wished they had other colors to place with them, like an awesome turquoise or green, or maybe a yellow. I could see them all collected in an old wooden bowl. I may keep my eye out for something similar or I could always create my own.

Excuse the horrid photograph, Carin would NOT put this thing down, she just kept screaming: ” Rah Rah Rah! Shish boom bah!”    So. Embarrassing.

Anyhow.

We were totally in love with any and all megaphones. They were hard to come by, but oh so incredible. Unfortunately the price reflected their scarceness. Every time we found one and looked at the price, we’d wind up pouting our way outta the booth.

Another horrible photo. I took this on the sly. Probably shouldn’t have. Oh well. Call me a Rule Breaker.

Loved. Loved. Loved these pillows. Still not sure why I didn’t buy one. I think they were around $30?

This picture freakin’ pisses me off. (Yup, I said freakin’ pisses. You’ll get over it.)

WHY OH WHY DIDN’T I BUY THESE DAMN FLAGS?

I loved these vintage flags more than anything. And I walked away and forgot about them. Until I downloaded my photos.

And now I’m VERY angry.

If I remember correctly the price was fairly high so I moved on while spouting the classic: “I’ll think about it.”

STUPID.

Lesson Learned in Brimfield: If you LOVE it, buy it. ON. THE. SPOT.

Because if you don’t, you’ll come home and scream at the computer and wind up swearing on your blog.

That’s all gang. Stay tuned for what we DID buy!

More Brimfield!

I was going to post a few of my favorite items today but decided instead to simply show you a few of the awesome set-ups we saw.

When a booth was set up nicely it was a lot more fun to browse. Although, we did find that booth style and pricing were perfectly in tune – the nicer the booth the higher the prices so of course, in classic Yby5 style we spent more time browsing in the…umm…shall we say, less-than-beautiful booths. But it was also fun to take note of what those pricey pretty booths were doing so well.

Admittedly with the rain and crazy weather I would frequently forget to take a photo, but here are the few that I did manage to get.

Just a glimpse into a few of the places we were browsing.

All the things I loved are coming up tomorrow!

What Caught My Eye…

Last night I finally had the chance to sort through some of my photos from Brimfield…I’m sharing some of my favorite things that stood out and captured the weekend.

LOVE these chairs!

Aren’t the colors awesome? I’ll take six for my screened in porch please!

These sphere lights were really cool…give me a moment and I could find a spot for a few.

Hello knobs…we tossed around what we could do with these. Any ideas?

This had everything all in one spot…cool stools, chalkboards, letters, and an amazing table.

 All to die for!!

How many words can you make?

And those zinc top tables-just stop now!

 Brimfield was waiting for me….ha!

This tent was so visually stunning and every inch had something unique.

The colored dice grabbed my attention-I feel the need to raid my kids board games!

A wall of film reels and old street signs…I was in heaven!

The clown faces creeped me out, but the letters are fantastic.

I think it’s pretty clear what I gravitated to–signs, letters and color.

If only my money tree bloomed before this trip…I could have gone crazy!

I’ll share what I bought later this week…any thoughts??
